Structural Retaining Walls
A retaining wall holds back tonnes of wet soil, and in the Lower Mainland's rainy winters, water pressure is what pushes walls over. We build every wall to drain.
- Drainage first. A perforated drain pipe at the base, wrapped in clear crushed drain rock, carries water away before it can build pressure behind the wall.
- Soil retention. Filter fabric keeps fine soil out of the drainage zone. Taller walls get geogrid layers that tie the wall into the hillside behind it.
- The right block. We help you choose between segmental concrete block, natural stone and armour rock based on height, load and the look of your home.
- Permits handled. In many Lower Mainland cities, walls over about 1.2 m (4 ft) need an engineer's design. We check your city's rules and coordinate the engineering when it's required.
